Brighton Rotary Club Brings Photography to Turkey

  • Brighton Rotary Club has had a long relationship with the Bayrampassa-Istanbul Rotary Club and have done several joint projects.  Suleyman Girt, Past President of the Bayrampassa Club and Peter Schwarz, Past President of the Brighton Club, coordinated this project and obtained funds from the two clubs and a matching grant from the Rotary International Foundation.
  • The project called "4 Schools - 40 Students" included donating computers, printers, projectors, and digital cameras and the services of a professional photographer to conduct classes at the schools.

  • The two Rotary Clubs have also exchanged visits.  In September 2008, 10 Rotary families from Istanbul were home hosted by Brighton Rotarians. The return "Friendship Exchange" was made to coincide with the conclusion of the project - the Judging of the photos, the awards ceremony and the photo exhibition. Peter & Elaine Schwarz and Larry & Carole Wetzel from the Brighton Rotary Club attended.

  • This is a photo report covering the Matching Grant and the activities leading up to the awards ceremony and exhibit.
